The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released a public notice on 20 November 2025 announcing the Correction Window for JEE Main 2026 Session 1. This correction facility is the only chance for students to fix mistakes in their application forms.

Here is a complete and simple breakdown of everything students and parents need to know.

🗓 Correction Window Dates

As per the official NTA notice (Page 1) Correction Window Notice:

Correction Period:01 December to 02 December 2025 (up to 11:50 PM)

No further extension will be given.⛔ This is a one-time correction facility, so students must check their details carefully.

⚠️ Who Should Use the Correction Window?

Every registered candidate is strongly advised to log in at https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/ and verify all details.Even if you believe your form is correct, cross-check once to avoid any issues during admit card or exam day.

What Changes Are Allowed & Not Allowed?

NTA has clearly specified the list of fields students cannot change, can change, and can modify with conditions, in Annexure 1 (Page 2) of the notice. Correction Window Notice

Below is a clear explanation:

Details That CANNOT Be Changed

Students are not allowed to edit these fields:

  • Mobile Number

  • Email Address

  • Permanent & Present Address

  • Emergency Contact

  • Photograph

These are locked fields. Make sure they were correct at form submission.

✔️ Fields Students CAN Change (Any One Field)

You are allowed to change any one of the following:

  • Candidate Name

  • Father’s Name

  • Mother’s Name

✔️ Fields Students CAN Change (All Fields Allowed)

Students can modify all details in these categories:

  • Class 10th details

  • Class 12th details

  • State Code of Eligibility

  • Examination City Selection

  • Medium of Exam

NTA also clearly states that they are not bound to allocate the examination city chosen by the student.

✔️ Fields Related to Identity That CAN Be Changed

For candidates who registered without Aadhaar, you may update:

  • Aadhaar Details

✔️ Other Fields You Are Allowed to Edit

  • Date of Birth

  • Gender

  • Category (General/OBC/SC/ST)

  • PwD Status

  • Signature

  • Paper (BE/BTech, BArch, BPlanning)

⚠️ Important: If the correction affects your fee category, you must pay the additional fee. This fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Why This Correction Window Is Important

NTA has clearly mentioned in the notice that this one-time correction facility is being provided to ensure that no student faces hardship. Once the correction is done and submitted:

✔️ The form will be frozen✔️ No further changes will be entertained under any condition

This means any mistake left unchanged may create problems at:

  • Admit card verification

  • Examination hall

  • Result processing

  • Counseling / admission rounds

  • Name spelling

  • Date of Birth

  • Category

  • State code of eligibility

  • Exam city

  • Academic details

✅ 3. Keep Documents Ready

Match your application details with:

  • Aadhaar card

  • SSC/10th Marksheet

  • 12th/Equivalent documents

  • Caste certificate (if applicable)

  • PwD certificate (if applicable)

✅ 4. Take a Screenshot After Correction

This helps during future verification.

Important Deadline Reminder

From Page 1 of the notice Correction Window Notice:

Last date to submit JEE Main 2026 Session 1 application: 27 November 2025. No extension.

Only after the form is submitted can you use the correction window.
